South Kyneton Connectivity Petition
Help Fix South Kyneton’s Broken Connections – Act Now for Our Town’s Future!
The Issue
If you live in South Kyneton, you already know: walking to the train station is a hassle, and traffic through town is only getting worse. That’s because two key infrastructure links are still missing—a safe pedestrian path to Kyneton Train Station and a vehicle bridge over the Campaspe River from Edgecombe Street.
Both projects are essential, especially as South Kyneton continues to grow. They’re clearly identified in the Kyneton Movement Network Plan (2024–2033), so they’re on Council’s radar—the issue now is prioritization.
The Two Big Problems:
Pedestrian access to the station needs review. We’re calling for a 1.5-metre wide footpath from the end of Mollison Street to the station—basic infrastructure that would make it safer and more connected for all, especially South Kyneton residents. A proposal from the Kyneton on Riverside development has sat unresolved for nearly a decade, dismissed by VicTrack with no alternative. It’s time to get this built.
No vehicle bridge from Edgecombe Street all southbound traffic is funnelled through Mollison Street—causing congestion, safety issues, and added pressure on the town centre. South Kyneton currently has only one access point, a major concern for residents. The proposed bridge would connect Edgecombe Street to High Street, creating a much-needed second entry and exit for the area. It would also provide a critical link to the school precinct on High Street and help ease traffic well into the future.
The Macedon Ranges Shire Council has made this a priority, but have budgetary constraints, so they can't do it alone. We urgently need investment from both the Victorian and Federal Governments.
In all fairness, we’re seeking Council, the Victorian State, Federal Governments and transport authorities to deliver these much-needed infrastructure:
✅ Build the Edgecombe Street bridge
✅ Complete the safe, shared pathway to the station
✅ Prioritise our community’s safety and connection—not just future development
Sign the petition to support real progress in Kyneton. Once we reach 200 signatures, we’ll present it to State and Federal representatives to push for this vital infrastructure.
Together, we can get Kyneton connected and moving.
